Explanation of Blog, Website Names, Musings on projects

I recently fell down a rabbit hole of reading strange stories on the internet and exploring the Wayback Machine and old sites from the 1990s and early 2000s. That ended up being the inspiration for me starting this old-school blog.

The blog is just the latest project in a long string of things I have worked on, including building an entire rack-mounted network in my apartment, hosting my own chat platform, setting up a music server that syncs to my phone from my own physical copies, and running my own website.

I decided the logical next step was to expand the website to include a blog. I may even host videos here at some point, depending on what I feel like doing. I am not saying I would never use YouTube, but acquiring and maintaining a private Google account is not exactly easy these days.

Going forward, my goal is to build a website that provides most of the services I need, which I have more or less achieved, while also giving me a place to express myself in a way that feels right.

Some readers, if I ever have any, might wonder about the website name. The simple explanation is that I am a huge fan of the dungeon synth genre of music, and Frostgard is one of my favorite artists in that space. Originally, the site was meant to be private, so I picked a name based on something I liked.

Eventually, I rebranded to "FrostNET," which makes more sense given the purpose of the site. At some point, I may pick up the domain frostnet.xyz to shift the focus away from me and avoid taking attention from the artist the original name came from.
